In line with its drive to ensure Cleaner Ocean and safer environment within Nigeria’s maritime domain, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) says it is committed to achieving a sustainable greener environment by ensuring pollution free maritime domain.
Dakuku Peterside, director-general of NIMASA, who disclosed this when he received members of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) led by Dada Thomas, its president, said the agency was changing the narrative by adhering to the NIMASA’s enabling legislations, which had a primary focus of ensuring safety standards and compliance in line with global best practices.
“We appreciate the fact that cleaner fuel is the way forward if we want our environment to be clean; as part of our strategy to achieve this, we need to collaborate with relevant organisations like the Nigerian Gas Association, among others,” Peterside said.
He assured that NIMASA on its part would continue to lend its voice in support of the advocacy, which would further guarantee a safer and secured business environment in Nigeria.
He also assured the executive members of the NGA that the agency was open to all forms of partnerships that could help for the growth and development of the Nigerian maritime sector. “As our nation is committed to diversification, gas remains untapped; hence, you can count on NIMASA in this advocacy drive.”
